It's a Boy!
We are excited to tell you all that we had our 20 week ultrasound today and we found out that we're having another BOY!! We are so excited and feel so blessed! We exercised trust and faith in the Lord as we anticipated this appointment, knowing that we never got to have this appointment when we were pregnant with Collin, our first son. We were behind in appointments with him. It was such a joy and a blessing to experience such joy and anticipation today as we look forward to meeting our son.
The doctor said that everything else looks normal with our baby boy. He is measuring right on track for a 20-week-old. They maintain the due date of May 6th. It is also important to note that there were no concerns with my health either. That is, of course, a concern given our past history. All my measurements and everything looked good too! Praise the Lord! Everything seems to be right on track and we will continue to pray that the Lord will allow everything to go smoothly.
Some of you have asked if we are doing anything differently this time (with this pregnancy) than we did last time with Collin. There are several things. First of all, I am on restricted activity. I'm not on complete bed rest, per say, but I am on what the doctor calls modified bed rest in that I can't exert myself and I rest a lot. Also, I haven't been able to travel too far from home ever since I completed my first trimester. It's better for me to stay close to our hospital just in case anything were to go wrong, and also long trips can be taxing and wearisome on my body and muscles. The doctor has also prescribed weekly injections of progesterone. It is a drug that in some cases has proved to help prevent premature birth in women who have a tendency to deliver prematurely. These shots are a bit uncomfortable and usually inflict me with nausea for the next 24-36 hours after I receive them. Lastly, from this point until March, I am also receiving ultrasounds every two weeks to take my measurements to ensure that my body is not sending me into premature labor. If it is, then hopefully we can catch it soon enough with these ultrasounds to do something about it. That's about everything that I can think of, other than just being very careful and aware of my body and the baby.
All in all, we are thankful for how the Lord has allowed us a safe and healthy pregnancy so far, and we pray that God would continue to bless in that regard and grant us the privilege of welcoming this new little boy into our family in May! We haven't decided on any names yet either, to those of you who are wondering!
Thanks for your prayers and concern!
