Wednesday Afternoon 1/21
Today we are 25 weeks! We have now been in the hospital for 5 days just waiting things out and getting me to a stable condition. We daily...hourly...tell the Lord that we are in His hands. This baby boy is in His care, not ours. The Lord has blessed us with 5 more days than we thought we would have. We were told by the doctor this morning that each day that the baby is inside of me is equal to 2-3 days he would have to spend in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). So, each day is a blessing, and we truly thank God for each day that things stay normal and uneventful.
Yesterday, however, was a little more eventful than the previous days. Andy went back home to Marshalltown to do some laundry and run some errands. While he was gone, I had what felt like two contractions which were accompanied by some bleeding. The doctor ordered another ultrasound to see how things were going. She said that the results were very much the same as they were when we did an ultrasound on Monday. The cervix was the same length, which is very encouraging! The amount of amniotic fluid was still the same. The medicine I'm taking is supposed to decrease the amount of fluid in order to reduce the pressure on my cervix, but the doctor said it would be at least a week until we see any reduction in fluid. So, even though there were some concerns yesterday, it turns out that there is still nothing changed. Praise the Lord! So, as my doctor says, the plan is just to hang out and make a baby for the next week and reevaluate through another ultrasound this Friday. The events of yesterday just reminded me that everything can change very quickly, so I just need to be in prayer all the more.
Bedrest is hard and don't let anyone tell you differently! Andy has been a constant help and comfort during this time. Today I got to clean up a little bit and get into my own clothes! That makes all the difference! We got some flowers delivered yesterday and some sweet friends sent some candies and reading material back with Andy for me. It's so nice to have some pretty flowers to look and smell during the day! Well, I'm needing to switch positions, so I'll end this now. Just wanted to let you know how things are going and you can praise the Lord with us for getting us to 25 weeks! Thank you for your prayers and comments!

I guess I was wrong about the days in utero versus the days in NICU. Just wanted to add...Are you on a regular mattress? (I know this seems like a stupid question) If you are...ask for an egg crate mattress...I remember so much how the bones in my hips hurt from laying on my side and I asked for one and it helps.
