1 month old
Judah will be one month old already this Sunday (Mother's Day)! That's hard to believe. This month has gone so fast with us getting established as a family and learning about our new schedule with Judah. We are tired (hehe), but the Lord has helped us with a lot this month as we have incorporated Judah into our family.
Judah is doing very well! Tomorrow, May 6th, was his original due date. We are so thankful that Judah came to us healthy and safe even though he was early. We had him weighed today at the doctor's office. We were a bit hesitant to go into the "lion's den" with all the probable cases of the Swine flu going around in our county. Upon entering the doctor's office, we all were screened and asked if we were having flu symptoms. We aren't. But if we were, we would have been routed to another office where they are handling all the sick Swine flu people. Anyway, back to Judah's weight. He was 7 lbs 15.5 oz today! So, basically 8 pounds! Yay Judah!! We're so thankful that he is eating well and thriving. Yesterday we noticed that he has outgrown one of his outfits that Grandma gave him. Can it be?! Children will grow up, I guess, but we don't have to like it!
I (Elizabeth) have had quite a month. I've been struggling with a residual infection left over from my c-section in the hospital. I was treated for it at the hospital, but it flared up again after being home for awhile. I had really high fevers and pain. After some doctor visits, I was put on antibiotics and I'm almost done with that course of treatment. Needless to say, that infection put me down and out of commission for a good week and a half. Andy, again, picked up after my inadequacies. It was reminiscent of my time on bedrest. He is such a good husband--and father! As of the last couple of days, the Lord has restored some of my strength and my appetite. I am feeling much better, but still working on getting my strength back after months of muscle atrophy while on bedrest. Please pray that this medicine will kick my infection and that will be the last of it!
Yesterday we had an exciting day. Andy was excited to take Judah on his first ride in Daddy's Dodge Ram! We needed to go to the Des Moines area to pick up our trailer after we got the carpet replaced in it. (Yay! That project is finally done and looks great!) We decided to make a stop at Dr. Drake's office to introduce her to Judah. If you remember, Dr. Drake is the perinatologist (high-risk pregnancy doctor) that helped me for the three weeks that I was on bedrest in the hospital. She also consulted with us until I was farther along in the pregnancy. She loves the Lord, and told us to bring the baby back so she could praise the Lord with us for the blessing of his life. So, yesterday we surprised her (probably not something a doctor really appreciates, but she said God knew she needed to see us that day) and brought Judah to meet the doctor that God used to help bring him safely to this world. It was a sweet reunion for all of us! We all hugged and said, "Let everything that has breath PRAISE THE LORD!" Judah is such a testament to God's power and grace! Thank you Jesus!
Just wanted to let you all know that we're doing well! This Sunday, Mother's Day, will be a special day for us. Last year we "celebrated" in honor of our first son, Collin. When we got pregnant again, we trusted that God would allow us to celebrate this year with a baby in our arms. Praise God! He is worthy of our trust!
